Another year and another edition of the Primera sports expo at the bic. The expo is a free to enter bike show hosted by Bournemouth bicycle shop Primera sports alongside their suppliers to roll out next years bikes, and have a good clear out of old stock. There’s also the odd classic piece of equipment on display as well.
The first thing we were greeted with, as we all bundled through the door. was Specialized’s vintage van and stump jumper collection. Pretty cool eh?!
This was parked right at the entrance to the sale area, and the main event of the show. Well going by the pace that everyone floods into it it is. And that’s where I was off to ASAP……
The sale area houses clearance clothing, bikes, and accessories all at super knock down prices. And the last few years I’ve picked up a few bargains. This year the selection was a little slim though with no Castelli and no Assos for guys. Just a lot of sugoi and endura, both brands I have little connection with so after a quick shifty through the racks it was off round the show.
Here are some bikes I liked the look of!
Geraint Thomas’ stage winning bike form TDF 2018.
And out two little pickles making faces at each other in front of a Specialized full sus.
Well done to Primera for another good free show with plenty of new bikes to see, although this one was slightly overshadowed by previous years. The number of suppliers were down, the clothing offers were a bit thin, and there seemed to be a few stalls padding things out. VW campervans and electronic goods? It’s a bike show. It was the Rouleur Classic on the same weekend, so maybe this strained supplier backup. Still, it’s great to have a free bike show on your doorstep and I hope its back up where it was a few years ago.
