The only shot I took of @bicyclejacks Christmas open evening. There’s the man himself. A really professional looking workshop, stocked with parts and accessories from shimano, Blackburn, muc off, Clark’s, and more. Cleared the wall of bikes to show some vids.... now that’s a cool twist.... video nights anyone? Thanks for the mulled cider and cakes! . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #bikeshop #bicycleshop #bicyclerepair #cytech #cycletech #rideyourbike #lymington #bicycle #supportyourlbs #localbikeshop #bikerepair #bicyclemechanic #roadbike #gravelbike #mountainbike #bournemouthcyclist
The R872 had a little work by Steve @thebicyclekitchin over the last couple of days. That’s because there’s some exciting @ribble_cycles news coming from him soon, especially if you are in the market for one and live in the south. You should give him a shout and watch his social for more! . . . . . . . . . #ribblecycles #ribblebikes #roadbike #roadcycling #roadcyclist #roadcycle #roadbikeporn #roadbikelife #roadbikes #roadbikepics #roadbikeaction #cycling #cyclinglife #bicycleworkshop #thebicyclekitchin #bournemouthcyclist #cyclemechanic #cyclingpassion
#tbt to actually riding a bike outside. It’s been nearly 7 weeks since I stacked it.... but hey another appointment next week and fingers crossed for a cast removal 🤞🏼 I’m gagging for a ride 🤘🏼 . . : . . . . . #gravelbike #gravelride #misty #thenewforest #groadbike #cantisforlife #dawesbikes #steelisreal #cycling #cyclist #whyiride #fromwhereiride #bbbcycling #cyclingpassion #passionforcycling #instacycle #instacycling #cyclingphotos #cyclingselfie #bournemouthcyclist
So today’s appointment yielded another cast. And some disappointing news, I could be in it for another six weeks. Not what I wanted to hear..... but for someone who wants it to be right, for handlebars use obviously! Then it’s a short time for the cycling ahead of me.... looks like it’s new year for me to be out on the open road now..... running and zwifting shall continue........ lairy orange is so in....
A little something that’s being prepared for me...... @rinascltabike integrated carbon aero bars..... Logo design and placement decided, UD matte finish with white logo. 👌🏼 . . . . . . . #bicycleporn #carbon #carbonbicycle #carbonhandlebar #rinasclta #gofast #roadbike #roadbikeporn #bicycleupgrade #buyupgradesdontrideupgrades #lightweight #roadcyclist #roadcycling #roadbikelife #bournemouthcyclist
So there it is. My hand in a cast. Just over three weeks ago I stacked the gravel bike about 100 yards from home turning into a junction. Went down hard on my left wrist, limped home pedalling one footed. Got cleaned up, had a shower, and Charlie took me to hospital. - At time of impact I hadn’t ever had felt such an intense pain, had to stop myself from reaching. Two hours later in hospital the pain wasn’t too bad and the manipulation from the nurse didn’t deliver any increase, X-ray showed a possible break but radiologist was non committal. I was cleaned up, given a splint and asked to come back in the week. - Bruising came on strong in the first week which is a good tell for a break, especially for me as I never bruise. Second appointment doctor reviewed and carried out more manipulations but this time knew exactly where to press to get a good wince, result was to be sent straight for an MRI. I was then booked in for another follow up. - Two weeks later I return for what I thought would be last appointment, today. Bruising had gone down and strength was starting to return to it. I’d actually been leaving the splint off most of the time, even tried a few press ups. But it was still painful. First point of conversation was result of MRI, “you’ve fractured your scaphoid, where is your splint? You should be wearing it!”. After some more painful manipulation I was sent to the plaster room for a cast. - I’m now facing another potential three weeks off the bike. Scaphoid is a naff bone to break, it has very poor blood flow. It really needs resting. Luckily the cast will be removed and my hand assessed weekly so I could be out of it sooner. Fingers crossed as I really want to enter one of the local off-road duathlons before we head away for Xmas. - Thanks to Bournemouth hospital for all the care. I’m sure that this will fix up soon and I can be back on the bike ASAP.
