The mystery Columbus frame went off for powder coating last week at PowderTec in Poole. They have coated a number of frames for me in the past and have always done a cracking job. After filing all the crappy leftover mounts from the frame I dropped it off on the Monday. Not knowing exactly what colour I was going for the guys at powdertec gave me some Pantone charts to browse, then when I had chosen a colour I could select Matt, silk, or gloss finish.
Powdertec do a very thorough job. Each frame gets blasted to remove any existing paint, then it gets checked for cracks to ensure it’s worth painting! It will then be dipped and all threads bunged before painting to ensure the best finish. For collection they also wrap the frame in bubble wrap. This all comes from their specialty of painting motorcycle frames, they do a fair few and have a great reputation for them.
Anyway here’s the frame!
I’ve even got round to putting a bit of it together tonight!
Looking forward to getting a few more parts bolted up, but there’s no rush for it!
If you want a frame painted I can recommend the guys at powdertec, check out their website HERE and their Facebook HERE.
Be back with more soon.
